After cleaning your ear with a wipe or cotton soaked in alcohol and once dry, you (or an approved practitioner), place the beads on all points on the exterior part of your ear according to the chosen protocol. It doesn't hurt, but you may feel slight tenderness or warmth.
Once in place, you massage them two to three times a day. To do this, apply light pressure to the seeds and massage them in small circles.
You can leave them for up to 5 days in winter, and around 2-3 days in summer. Always leave 2 days of rest between two uses.
Auriculotherapy aims to promote the release of natural endorphins, “feel-good” chemicals in your body. Experts don't fully understand why or how auricular acupuncture or acupressure can help with certain conditions, but there is some evidence that auriculotherapy can relieve some symptoms.
In one study, researchers found that ear seeds or beads made people more tolerant of pain. We need a lot more research, but these results suggest that ear seeds could help people better manage chronic pain.
